Denise S’s Story
On October 4th I started to feel like I was getting a bladder infection. I couldn’t get into a doctor because I had just got new insurance and my wait time was over 2 months. I could however go to urgent care. I went the doctor was rushed. Appeared as though I was wasting her time. She said I had blood in my urine but no infection. All week I was in agony and went back to urgent care on Friday 10.10.14. Another doctor told me I had a bladder infection and he prescribed me meds. Cipro to be exact. A 7 day course. Day 2 10.12.14 I told my husband that I felt like I was being poisoned. That the meds are making me feel worse. He urged me to keep taking them, to finish my prescription. I agreed thinking I had waited to long to see a doc for the bladder infection. By Wednesday the 10.15.14 I called urgent care and told them that I feel no better and I almost feel worse (in a different way). They told me to come in and proceeded to tell me that there was nothing more they could do for me and that I had to go to the ER. While at the ER I told them my whole story, he did a CT scan on my abdomen ( I had stomach and intestine pain. Checked my pancreas and kidneys. Nothing!!! He said my infection was gone but prescribed me 3 more pills. I went home in so much pain and with more questions than answers. Sunday 10.19.15 I couldn’t move. It was like a bomb went off in my body. I had to crawl to the bathroom. All my joints ached with such force and all my limbs felt as though they were falling asleep. I couldn’t eat, I had such bad heart burn and indigestion. My life as I knew it no longer existed. I couldn’t wrap my head around what was making me feel like this. I looked at the side effects. BAM!! hit me like a ton of bricks. I finally got into the doctors and they tested me for everything under the moon.. Keep in mind I was a health active 36 year old. Now I live off pain meds Motrin. They even prescribed me Hydrocodone. I have never taken so many meds in my life. EVER!! The Nobody was willing to admit the real problem was the cipro. I have read up on what has helped others and have tried numerous things. For me I am still very achy and have abdominal issues but they are not as bad. I had the doctors treat me for Candida – cipro killed all my good stomach bacteria which allowed the over growth of yeast in my body. That has helped tremendously. I have occasional flare ups ( that’s what I call them) it usually happens if I don’t sleep good. Im still always tired and feel exhausted some days with the most minor task. This has truly changed my life and my way of thinking about meds. It’s a silent killer and life destroyer and should be pulled from the market. My story is minor compared to some. It’s taken lives. That should be enough!!!!
